Installation & Usage Guidelines

Compatibility Check: IMPORTANT: HDG nuts MUST be paired with HDG bolts. Using a standard zinc-plated nut on an HDG bolt will result in a fit that is too tight, causing the threads to strip or seize.

No Re-Tapping: Never re-tap an HDG nut after it has been galvanized. This removes the protective zinc from the threads and leads to rapid corrosion.

Q: Why do HDG nuts feel "loose" on a standard bolt? A: Because they are Oversized Tapped. They are designed to have extra space to fit the thick zinc coating of an HDG bolt. On a standard bolt, the gap is too wide, which significantly reduces the stripping strength of the joint.
Q: Can I use HDG nuts with Stainless Steel bolts? A: Longze does not recommend this. Pairing HDG carbon steel with stainless steel can lead to galvanic corrosion, which will degrade the nut's zinc coating prematurely.
