ISO 10511 is the international standard for Prevailing Torque Type Hexagon Thin Nuts with Non-Metallic Inserts (commonly known as Nyloc thin nuts). Within the GFM-WCR System, ISO 10511 serves as a low-profile vibration-resistant solution, specifically engineered for applications with limited space where a standard bolt O screw joint must remain secure without the need for additional locking washers.
Unlike the decorative encapsulation provided by the domed DIN 1587 O ASME B18.6.6, ISO 10511 focuses on mechanical anti-loosening. The non-metallic insert creates an interference fit with the screw threads, maintaining a constant prevailing torque that prevents the nut from backing off even if the initial axial tension is lost. This thin-profile geometry is essential for compact mechanical assemblies where traditional high-profile locking nuts would interfere with surrounding components.
